Simon’s old ethics don’t quite work out here, nothing’s clear. His new moral code is based on doing the opposite to what Jayne does.
He told Jayne he wouldn’t hurt him and he meant it. Saving lives is so deeply ingrained in him that while Jayne was waiting for the Feds, he’d been saving a man’s life.
“Also, I can kill you with my brain.”
He waits outside for River. “Do you think he believed you?”
“I do - believed it when I said it.” She stares off into space, seeing thing he can’t - knows what people can do.
