Title: Ghosts

Objects still call out to River, they need to be touched. She runs her fingertips over the dulled surface of Serenity‘s controls. She wonders if she can pickup on any of the ships past pilots, tap into the right frequency. Wash is still here, she expects there are others waiting for her to hear them.

They aren’t ghosts, she doesn’t believe in those. They'd never be classified as that, under any kind of scrutiny. Their thoughts simply got trapped, they can’t change, they’re merely echoes. 

People remembered those ghosts but eventually Serenity will be all that is left of them.

Thanks. Serenity always seemed to have a lot of history that we didn't know anything about and River always seemed to have a connection with the ship.

Thank you. I have wanted to write something about River for a long time. I've only written one firefly fic and she was the only mean character not to appear in it.

Awww, thanks for that, River running her hands over the controls was the image which I wrote around. The wallpaper on my computer is also from the last scene in Serenity, of her and Mal at the controls. I really loved writing from her perspective.

It's not easy writing a charactere who's sanity is ... shaky. I should know, I've written Dana several times, and I'm tackling a little Dru right now. I might put my Buffybot in that category, too -- at the very least, her outlook is unique.
